Mufti Shafique Ahmed Jakhura – Chairman
Mufti Jakhura completed the Aalimiyyah Course at Madrassah Taleemuddeen in 2002 in Durban and completed a Three-year specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh and Fatwa) from Darul Uloom Karachi Pakistan, under the guidance of Mufti Taqi Usmani, one of the leading contemporary scholars in Islamic Banking and Finance. He is also a Certified Shariah Accountant and Auditor from the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic financial Institutions, (AAOIFI). He has served as the in-house Shariah Supervisor of Amana Investments Ltd (now Amana Bank), Sri Lanka.
He currently serves in the Fatwa Department preparing and issuing Islamic Juristic rulings at the Darul Ihsan Centre in Durban, South Africa (www.darulihsan.com). He also currently serves as a Member of the Shariah Supervisory Board of Al Baraka Bank, South Africa, the Islamic Business Units of NDB Bank, Lanka Orix Leasing Company, Commercial Leasing and Finance, Amana Takaful PLC, Sri Lanka, Amana Takaful, Maldives and Adl Capital, Sri Lanka. He is also a founding member of the Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance, South Africa (CIEFSA) which provides guidance to numerous financial and commercial institutions (www.ciefsa.org).
Yahya Ilham – Shariah Coordinator
Yahya, holds a B.Sc (Hons.) degree in Economics and a Masters Degree in Islamic Banking & Finance from International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan. He currently serves as a Head of Product Structuring and Compliance at SAIF Capital(Pvt) Ltd., as well as overseeing matters related to the Shariah at the Adl Capital Group. He also acts as the Shariah coordinator on behalf of several financial institutions in Sri Lanka that have set up IBF Units/windows. He is also actively involved on the Product Development aspects of Adl Capital’s operations, and has been part of the core team that launched several pioneering IBF products to the Sri Lankan market. Yahya is also a lecturer of repute, specializing in the fields of Economics in addition to his key area of expertise, Islamic Banking & Finance. He has been called upon as a key resource person in several IBF programmes spanning a period of several years, not just in Sri Lanka but also in the Maldives.
